About the OSSLT

TestThe Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is a large-scale assessment written by all Grade 10 students in Ontario public and separate schools. Its purpose is to assess the reading and writing skills attained by all students who have completed the Grade 9 curriculum.

The test is set by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), an arms-length agency of the Ontario Ministry of Education. In the winter of 2006, the OSSLT was once again revised. More information on the history and format of the test can be found at the EQAO website.
