Who are we?
Corina Koch MacLeod and Carla Douglas are the creators of the Don’t Panic Grade 10 literacy test resources.
Corina Koch MacLeod, OCT is a literacy practitioner, teacher, writer, editor and online course developer at the Faculty of Education, Queen’s University. She holds an M Ed from Queen’s University, a B Ed from The University of Ottawa and an Hon BA (English) from McMaster University.
She established a tutoring program at the Queen’s Faculty of Education for students who struggled with reading, writing, math, and science, and a summer reading camp for struggling readers in the early elementary grades.
She has written and edited curriculum materials for the Ontario Ministry of Education, conducted reading workshops for parents and teachers, designed a social skills program for students with ASD, ADHD and/or LD, and co-authored eight books about teaching reading and writing. She has also worked with students with dyslexia using Orton-Gillingham-based teaching methods.
Carla Douglas, OCT is an editor, researcher and writer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Trent University, and a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University. She has taught English to high school students, to university candidates by correspondence and to inmates at correctional facilities. She has edited course materials for the Ontario Ministry of Education and Queen’s University and has researched and authored projects for various literacy agencies. She is also an academic and fiction editor, as well as a fiction writer.
